Kristy Kaney

Bimbo's was the classic, small, smoke filled, 40's style jazz club that I had imagined. The show was actually a private show for K101, so it was mostly employees, ad execs, radio personalities (they were all "too cool" and sat in the back) and anyone who won tickets from the station. They didn't even care if we took pictures! Whoopeee! So I was snapping pictures left and right. Of course I've already developed them... they look pretty good (for a disposable camera). My cousin and I were FRONT and CENTER so, as Harry said, we "funked until we dropped." The band was the same as the "She" tour, with the addition of the four brass he had on the Tonight Show. They played most of the upbeat songs from "Star Turtle", then harry jammed on the piano for awhile by himself, then they played some funkier New Orleans songs. They played two encores - the first was "Whisper Your Name" and the 2nd was nearly 45 minutes of Harry jamming on the bass, keyboard and drums. It was AWESOME. They were up there being crazy, dancing around, and telling "your girlfriend's so ugly" jokes. Harry talked a lot in-between about his first time playing in SF, and how he'd gotten a bad review. He said it was the last review he ever read. But he and the band also went on about how great this gig was, and how happy they were to finally play an entire concert from this album. I thought I'd get a chance to at least TRY to meet him and get a picture with him, but he and the band left right away. Oh well! I can't blame them though, it was 11:45, he'd played for a full three hours! Plus he was on K101 at 5:30 am, and channel 2 at 8:00 am the next morning.
