Nicole Fitzpatrick & Emma George

Our experience with the great turtle one occurred after the concert in Brisbane Australia.  Before we go any further, we had FRONT ROW CENTRE seats!  Even the ushers told us they were great seats!  In fact, we were SO close we could even see "Harry Bass" written on the back of his guitar.

After camping out for five hours for these marvellous tickets, all the while dodging flying ants and fish (don't ask!) we were incredibly hyped and couldn't wait for April 5th 1997.  But the experience...

After gaining his attention, we asked Harry if we could come backstage after the concert.  Security reasons prohibit us from divulging how we attained "backstage status", but we can reveal that animals were involved! For further information, you can email us.

Eventually the concert ended and we practically flew backstage.  After having explained to countless security guards that Harry said we could go backstage, we made it to the home stretch.  All we had to do now was wait (and try to contain ourselves!).

Finally, his tour manager (her name eludes us) said we could proceed into the "green room", where we got free drinks (yay!).  After about ten minutes (which felt like ten years!) the man arrived.  His first words to us? "Hey, how y'all doin?".  He was the nicest guy, and he was totally psyched about what we had done during the concert!  After talking to us for a few minutes, he signed our CD covers and T-shirts.  We then asked if we could have a photo taken with him, and he asked us to wait for him in his dressing room (a point of interest - there is a full laundry room backstage...washers, driers, washing detergent, the works!).  While we were waiting for Harry, we met Mark Mullins (the trombonist) and Tony Hall (bass guitarist and Eddie Murphy look-alike), who also both said "Hey, how y'all doin?".

When Harry finally escaped the press, he came back to the dressing room, and gave us a photo with him...the ONLY photo he gave to ANY of the THOUSANDS of fans who attended the concert (with less fantastic seats than us!).  He also waved to us when they were leaving the stage before the encore, as well as sitting, say 20cm away from us, legs swung over into the audience, while he sang "Drift Away".  You couldn't hear much over the other swooning females.

Essentially, this was one of the most legendary nights of our lives!  He is one of the coolest people that we have ever met!  Wokka wokka wokka wokka wokka WHAM!
