Let me tell y'all, as Harry would say, that I have waited forever to see Harry in concert. I first started getting into the Harry thing with the She album, and sadly, I missed the tour. Since then, I have been a Harry addict, and incredibly, my best friend Eric and I got tickets to the Star Turtle World Tour for Halloween night. I could not have asked for a better show. This was also, incidentally, my first concert ever!

Harry started around eight thirty, and came out and just jammed with his band for a few minutes. After each person did a solo, he introduced them, and since one of them was from Bridgeport, CT, there was tons of applause as the crowd went nuts. All of the band was dressed up in Halloween costumes, in light of the holiday, which made the show all the more festive.

He began with "How Do Y'all Know" and continued with "Mind on the Matter" and the crowd danced and sang all night. Then he jammed with his band for awhile again, and everyone kept dancing. Other highlights of the evening were an absolutely wonderful rendition of "Drift Away" and "America". He talked for awhile in the middle of the concert, just about doing what you want to do and following your heart, which was very cool. One girl yelled out, "I love you Harry!" and Harry says, "Yeah, I know. I speak your language!" The crowd laughed. Harry then warned the audience that they were about to hear piano music like they had never heard before and would never hear again -- and asked us all to pretend that it was a private concert. He was right -- as he dazzled and entranced the audience with his skills on the piano I realized the reason that I loved his music in the first place -- the amazing piano ability. He played some stuff that I didn't know, but there was one incredible song that was kind of slow, and really romantic... I think that it was something along the lines of "I Sing This Song For You," or something like that. Happily, "City Beneath the Sea" was next (my favorite) followed by three songs from She that culminated the evening: "Here Comes the Big Parade", "Funky Dunky", and the best of all, "Whisper Your Name".

He returned for an encore and played "Superstitious" for Halloween, of course, and "Thank You" by Sly Family Stone.

After the concert, Eric and I found the bus and got the chance to talk to all the members of the band, who were incredibly nice and talktative. Mark talked to us and a girl who was interested in going into music for at least ten minutes... he was really laid back. Finally, with frostbitten fingers from the 40 degree night air, we finally got to see Harry, who emerged with Jill, who was in attendance for the evening. He signed our posters, and I got to talk to him for a minute -- this was like a dream come true! He stayed and signed autographs for everyone who was there, which was awesome. To all the Harry fans who are going to see the concert, and for all of you who wish that you could... it was a great show! He's better in concert than on any CD! Connick forever!
